Alfred Roscoe North, Sr.

Alfred Roscoe North Sr., “Bubby”, “Pop Pop”, of Ellenville, NY, passed away at Health Alliance Hospital on Monday, July 20, 2015 with his family by his side. He was 84 years old. Al was born on May 1, 1931 in Atwood, NY; he was the son of the late Roscoe and Florence (Embree) North.

Mr. North had worked at the Schrade Knife Factory in Ellenville. He was a life member, past chief and past president of the Pioneer Engine Co. #1. Alfred was one of many few who held the position of fire chief for all the departments in Ellenville and was the 2nd oldest past fire chief of the district.

On September 6, 1975 he married Grace (Cooper) North in Ellenville.

In addition to his wife Grace at home, Al is survived by his children, Paul North, Lillian Reis, J.R. Faust, Vickie Marshall, Joann Gaeta, Jacquelyn Totten and Ethel Bartolli; his sisters, Katherine Hudson, Martha Bell Depuy and Betty Christiana, 21 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.

Mr North was predeceased by his son Alfred Jr. and his daughter Victoria North as well as his brothers, Sonny, Howie, Douglas and Butch North and his sisters, Dorothy Langjen and Thelma Orr.

Visiting will be held on Wednesday, July 22nd from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 N. Main St., Ellenville, NY. A celebration of his life is scheduled for 7pm that evening. Burial will be private. There will be a gathering for family and friends on Thursday, July 23rd at the Eastern Correctional Facility Picnic Ground at 12 pm.
