Doris Schoonmaker

Doris Pine Schoonmaker, 93, of Accord, NY, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2016. Doris was born on December 6, 1922 in Kingston, NY; she was the daughter of Clarence and Clara (Ghear) Pine and the widow of Donald L. Schoonmaker.

Doris attended Kingston High School and graduated with a bachelor's degree from New Paltz College. She taught school in Ellenville for a few years and then co-owned and operated Valley Gardens Inc. with her husband. She was active in many groups within the community including the First Aid Squad, Episcopal Church and the Donald L. Schoonmaker Scholarship Fund.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Beverly E.S. Alfeld; her grandchildren, Kimberly Sterba, Timothy Alfeld, Jason Schoonmaker and Tami Bogausch and 4 great grandchildren, Jonathan Schoonmaker, Caitlin Schoonmaker, Cassandra Bogausch, Joseph Bogausch.

Doris was predeceased by her son Steven Schoonmaker, her sister Frances Basten and her grandson Robert J. (R.J.) Alfeld.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 12th from 6-9 pm at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 N. Main St. Ellenville. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 13th at 1 pm at Christ the King Episcopal Church in Stone Ridge. Burial will follow at North Marbletown Cemetery.
