Elise C. Hornbeck, a beloved resident of Grahamsville, NY, gracefully departed this world on Monday, November 20, 2023 at the age of 82. Elise's journey began on December 17, 1940 in Bronx, NY, where she was warmly welcomed into the loving arms of her parents, Arthur and Mildred Greenrose. She found lifelong companionship in her late husband, Raymond Hornbeck.

Throughout her fruitful years, Elise embraced a diverse range of passions and pursuits. Commencing her career as a Teacher's Assistant, she diligently honed her skills and eventually earned her teaching certificate. She dedicated herself to educating young minds at Tri Valley School District. Her passion for learning extended beyond the classroom Elise's artistic talents flourished as she not only guided high school plays but also ventured into the realm of dance instruction and safeguarding others as a lifeguard and swim instructor.

In addition to her educational accomplishments, Elise was an active founding member of the Time in the Valley Museum, the Grahamsville United Methodist Church, and the North East Watercolor Society. She found solace and inspiration in art and painting with watercolors, capturing the beauty of the world around her with each stroke of her brush. Elise's talents were admired by many. She was a gifted, award winning artist. She shared her passion for creativity with her children, grandchildren and those who knew her. Additionally, Elise found great joy in exploring the world through travel and hiking and researching her genealogy, finding common ground between her endeavors, traditions and ancestry. Nature was her sanctuary, where she found peace and a sense of adventure.

Elise is survived by her children Adam Hornbeck and his wife Melanie, Keil Hornbeck and his wife Narda and Elyse Jean-Phillippe and her husband Dominique. She is also survived by her loving sister Linda Comando and her husband Frank; sister-in-law Betty Shaver; nine grandchildren Joel, Rachel, Phil, Isabelle, Austin, Kyle, Chloe, Kait and Emily; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Elise's legacy lives on through her family who will carry forth the values of love, strength, compassion, and dedication that she instilled in them.

A visitation in memory of Elise will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Loucks Funeral Home in Ellenville from 10am to 12pm. Following the visitation, there will be a celebration of her life to honor the beautiful memories she created with everyone she knew. Elise will be laid to rest at Grahamsville Rural Cemetery.
