Floyd Rose Sr. of Napanoch passed away on Monday, May 11, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 83.
He was the son of the late Samuel and Daisy Bell Rose born on July 15, 1931 in Wallkill, NY.
For many years he was employed as a caretaker with his brother-in-law Frank Eck at Lundy Estate. He later retired from Orange County DPW in 1999. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting and “quick” visits with family and friends. He was a member of the West Sprout Rod and Gun Club. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to all that knew and loved him; he will be deeply missed. A family statement reads “he will be missed for his good-hearted teasing and unannounced departures before the coffee was done”.
He is survived by his loving children Celestia Labbate and her longtime companion Buck Marl, and William Rose and his companion Debora Barbato, his grandchildren Floyd E. Rose and wife Ann, Theresa DeFreece and her husband Marlyn, Jesse Rose and his wife Sara Ann, Mikey Rose and his fiancé Amanda, Jen Labbate and her fiancé Mike, Kimi Rose and Quinn Rose, great grandchildren Alexis, Mariah, Evan and Knox Floyd, his siblings Ralph Rose and his wife Johanna, Helen Edge and her husband Bob, and Bobby Rose and his wife Fannie, his Godson Franklin Eck Jr., daughter-in-law Rosemarie Rose and his cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his devoted wife Millie Rose, his son Floyd Rose Jr., his siblings Jim, Sammy and Sonny Rose, Stella Nelson, Ruth Eck and Sarah Geiselhart.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 North Main Street Ellenville NY 12428 from 2-4:00 and 7-9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 15, 2015 at the funeral home at 10:00am with Rev. Mike Sparrow officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Bush Cemetery, Kerhonkson, NY.
In lieu of flowers donation’s in Floyd’s name can be made to Ellenville First Aid and Rescue 1 Webster Street, Ellenville, NY 12428. The family would like to extend a special thanks and gratitude to Crystal Run Health Care and Will Care.
