Gerrald L. Wigfall

Gerrald L. Wigfall 65 of Ellenville, NY passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Montefiore Hospital in Bronx, NY. 

Gerrald was born on May 13, 1958; the daughter of Emma Ware and Leon Hanna. 
Born in Charleston, South Carolina Gerrald moved to Ellenville with her family in the early 1960s.

After graduating Ellenville High School she furthered her education by attending Ulster County Community College. For over two decades, she devoted her career as a Direct Support Professional for Hillcrest and Sullivan County ARC, impacting countless lives in her community.

Gerrald leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her husband, David Wigfall, and her two daughters, Shannon Ware and Shannel Johnson. Gerrald was especially proud of her grandson, Noah Ray Ellis, affectionately known as "Grandma's Boo boo." Additionally, she eagerly awaited the arrival of another grandchild expected in May of 2024. 

Gerrald is also survived by her four brothers, Anthony Ware of Midland New Jersey, Leon Ware of Highland,NY, Edward Ware of Latham, NY, and Ramon Bethencourt of Lakewood Ranch, Florida. One Uncle Rosel Banks of Ellenville, NY. She had a special bond with each of them and cherished the moments they spent together.  In addition to her immediate family, she leaves behind a host of cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Gerrald was predeceased by her sister, Joyce Ware, and her brother, Jeffery Ware.  

Those who knew Gerrald remember her as a fabulous cook.  She had a deep love for quality time spent with loved ones, often expressing her joy through singing and dancing. Gerrald found solace and strength in her faith and was a devoted member and part of the A Team at the New Testament Church of Jesus Christ.

Gerrald L. Wigfall will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness, warm spirit, and unwavering love will forever remain in our hearts.

A home going service to honor Gerrald's life will be held at New Testament Church of Jesus Christ 39 Clinton Avenue, Ellenville NY on October 21, 2023. Visitation will be observed from 9am-11am. A Memorial service will follow. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate her life and share cherished memories.
