Gloria Spadaro

d. May 30, 2013

Gloria Spadaro, a long time resident of Ellenville, NY and Miami, FL passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 30, 2013 at the age of 87.

Gloria, or Auntie as she was known to scores of us, was the youngest child of John and Filomena Spadaro. She is pre-deceased by them and her three sisters, Rose, Josephine, Louise and her 3 brothers, Salvatore, John and Eugene.

After graduating in 1946 from University of Texas, Gloria lived and worked with her parents in their businesses in Ellenville and then, “hating the cold winters”, moved with her parents to their new home in El Portal, Miami, FL. She worked as a bookkeeper until her retirement from the Allen Morris Company, Miami, FL.

Never married, she was a very loving and generous Auntie to 17 nieces and nephews, 27 grand-nieces and grant nephews and numerous great-grand-nieces and nephews. Gloria was an avid traveler and thoroughly enjoyed her many trips to exotic places throughout the world. In between her world travels with sister Louise and brother Eugene, she thoroughly enjoyed hours spent with her many friends in Miami. They loved to go bowling, dining out at fabulous Miami restaurants and taking short trips around Florida to see the sights.

Although very unassuming her own needs and wants, she was extremely generous to her family, her Church and multiple charitable organizations.

Words cannot express the gratitude that Auntie’s family feels for all her caretakers that showed kindness, compassion and dedication to her needs. You all were wonderful and shall not be forgotten. You are angels on earth! Thank you.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Ellenville, NY on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 10:00 AM, with her interment immediately following in the Spadaro family plot in Fantinekill Cemetery, Ellenville, NY.

In keeping with her most appealing attribute, remembrances in her name may be donated to Hospice of Palm Beach County, Orchid Team, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407 and/or Parkside INN Assisted Living, 1613 SW 3rd Street, Boynton Beach, FL 33435.
