Obituary

Grace Ella Furman, 101, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026, at Arbor Landing in Pawleys Island, South Carolina.

Born on March 27, 1925, on her family’s farm in Mombaccus, New York, she was the daughter of the late Elting and Rose Churchwell. Grace was predeceased by her husband, Henry Furman of Napanoch, New York. She was the fourth of seven children, all of whom preceded her in death except her sister, Katherine Kohloff.

Grace is survived by her daughter, Vallery Hoff, and son-in-law, Dennis Hoff; five grandchildren—Lisa Hoff, Kim Hoff, Dena Mutz, Elena Hoff, and Craig Hoff; four great-grandchildren—Jessica Brooks, Makaylah Elliott, Hayden Mutz, and Matthew Prazeres; and three great-great-grandchildren—Zoe, Adyson, and Emilie Brooks. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Throughout her life, Grace worked at the Rondout Paper Mill in Napanoch, New York, Miller & Levine Pharmacy in Ellenville, New York, and later retired from Eastern Correctional Facility in Napanoch. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, reading, music, dancing, and traveling. Though she spent most of her life in Napanoch, she also lived in Florida and Pennsylvania during her later years.

A funeral service will be held on May 13, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Loucks Funeral Home, followed by burial at Fantinekill Cemetery.
