James J. McGrath

March 23, 1946 — December 27, 2012

 

James J. McGrath of Ellenville, NY passed away Thursday, December 27th at Vassar Brothers Hospital surrounded by his family. He was 66 years old. James was born on March 23, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY; he was the son of James and Rose (Hinck) McGrath.

 

James had worked as a bartender for McGeevers in Garden City, NY where he enjoyed throwing darts and was known as a pool shark to many. He was a long standing member of the Knights of Columbus. As a youngster he enjoyed playing football and baseball and as an adult he became an avid Yankees and Giants fan.

 

James is survived by his wife Anne T. (Burns) McGrath, their children James McGrath of Peckville, PA, Kimberly Ferreira of West Hempstead and Theresa McGrath of Napanoch, his sister Kathy Myers of West Hempstead, six grandchildren Jonathan, Brittney and Isabella Ferreira, Allison, Rebecca and Matthew McGrath.

 

Visiting will be held on Saturday, December 29th from 11am-3pm at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 N. Main St., Ellenville. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday 3 pm at the funeral home. Cremation will be private

 

Contributions may be made in James name to The Foundation for Vassar Brothers Medical Center for the Infusion Therapy Center, 45 Reade Place, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601
