Jeffrey Charles Hook

Jeffrey Charles Hook, age 63, passed away on November 4, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on August 10, 1960, in Ellenville NY, Jeff was the son of the late Gerald Hook and Frances Fritz. He was also the "god-son" of Thomas May. Jeff graduated from Ellenville High School in 1978 and started his career as a lifeguard at the Concord in Monticello NY. However, driven by his lifelong passion for helping people, he eventually became a paramedic, dedicating the last four decades of his life to this noble profession.

Throughout his career, Jeff worked for various ambulance companies and made a lasting impact on the community. He ended his illustrious career as Chief Paramedic and EMS Coordinator at Woodstock Fire Department. Additionally, he served as an ALS Instructor at Vassar Brothers Medical Center and EMStar/Beekman Fire Department. Known for his dedication to saving lives, Jeff always approached his work with a sense of humor and enjoyed playing pranks on unsuspecting colleagues or anyone in his path. Even his own kids were fair game. Whenever he found free time, he would take his boat out on the Hudson River.

Jeff is survived by his beloved wife Lorna and their three-year-old daughter Sophia. He also leaves behind daughters Andrea Retana Jr. (Carlos) of Woodridge NY, Elizabeth Brown (Ryan) of Grahamsville NY, Meghan Dibbini (Paul) of Cortlandt Manor NY, son David Case (Jaime) of Texas, grandchildren Brandon Mayr Jr., Kaitlyn Cross, Evin Cross, Kaleb Cross, Madysen Brown, Delanie Brown, Kaiya Dibbini as well as step-father Jack Fritz of Napanoch NY and brother Gerald Hook Jr. of Cazenovia NY.

In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by brothers Paul Hook and Kenneth Hook, and sisters Diane Hook and Darlene Light.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of Jeffrey Hook will be held on November 12, 2023, from 1-3pm at Woodstock Fire Department in Woodstock NY.

Jeffrey Charles Hook will always be remembered for his unwavering dedication to saving lives and bringing laughter into the lives of others. His legacy as a paramedic and his commitment to teaching life-saving techniques have left an indelible mark on the world. May he rest in peace.
