Joan L. Irwin Young of Napanoch passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Westchester Medical Center, surrounded by her family. She was 70. She was the daughter of the late Myrtle and Joseph Irwin, born on May 1, 1941 in Ellenville, NY. Joan was a proud graduate of Ellenville Central School District. She grew up attending St. Marks United Methodist Church in Napanoch and always spoke fondly of the church because it was there that she learned the song "Jesus Loves Me". She worked for over 30 years at Catskill Regional Medical Center as an office manager for the Anesthesia Department, which she later retired from. She was a loving and compassionate person that would always be there for the people she loved. She impacted many people’s lives because of her overwhelming kindness and generosity. Gardening was her passion. She also volunteered frequently at Ellenville Regional Medical Center. She donated to many different organizations and charities. She loved her dog Waylon and her cat Jack. She loved her family more than words can express. She was a loving fiance, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all that knew and loved her; she will be greatly missed. She is survived by her loving children, Carol M. Young of Hurleyville, and Robert D. Young of Saugerties; five grandchildren: Taylor and Laurel Wilsen, Nicholas Young, Hope and Michael Moyson; two great grandchildren, Leah and Caleb Lowe; devoted fiance, Frank Paes Jr. of Napanoch; and one brother, Robert Irwin. She was predeceased by one brother, Donald Irwin. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 North Main St., Ellenville, NY 12428, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will held be on Monday, April 16, 2012 at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Rev. Eileen Daunt will officiate. Donations in Joan’s name can be made to St. Marks United Methodist Church, 35 Church St., Napanoch, NY 12458.
