November 14, 1934 — October 15, 2015

JOHN R. BEILMAN of Ellenville, Ulster County Senior of the Year 2015 entered into rest on October 15, 2015, peacefully with his family by his side. He was born November 14, 1934 in Ellenville N. Y. to John E. and Helen Beilman.

John was a lifelong resident of Ellenville who served as Superintendent of the Ellenville Water & Sewer Dept. for 34 years. He also volunteered at Family of Ellenville 6 days a week for over 10 years, where he spent countless hours delivering groceries to neighbors in an effort to eliminate hunger. He is prominently known in the community for his humble manner, keen sense of humor, and fascinating stories. John was a self-taught artist, capturing the very essence of history and beauty in and around the Ellenville area, including many works of Sam's Point and the D&H Canal. Known as a "True Renaissance Man" who at age 80 was still cutting and splitting his own wood, hunting, gardening, and canning for his family with a true pioneer spirit.

JOHN was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary of 61 years. He is survived by his daughter Debra L. Beilman, Diane & Patrick Grable, Son in law Arthur Gress, Denise & Peter Fuchs, grandchildren, John Gress, Daniel Gress, Christopher Gress, Sabrina Grable, Alexis Grable, and Kyle Fuchs and great-grandson Emmett Gress, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
