John Ward Lockwood

John Ward Lockwood of Ellenville, NY, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024, with his family by his side. He was 78 years old. Born on January 18, 1946, in Ticonderoga, NY; he was the son of the late John Edward Lockwood and Cora Josephine Ward Lockwood.

John grew up in Ticonderoga, NY and graduated from Ticonderoga High School. Shortly after graduating he enlisted into the United State Navy. He served as a medic during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1970 after which he pursued his career as a tool and die maker. 

John worked for Imperial Schrade until his retirement and then he went to work for Besicorp in Kingston, NY.

In his leisure time John enjoyed water skiing, boating, and snowmobiling. He believed in living his life to the fullest with no regrets. John was also a member of the American Legion.

In addition to his wife Sharon, whom he married on March 6, 1984, John is survived by his children, Traci Jeter (Michael), Danielle D’Attilio (Lou Carciobolo), Michele McWain (Walter), Chantelle D’Attilio and Devin John Lockwood (Kelly); grandchildren, Ariel Bethencourt, Quinn Jeter, Olivia Jeter, Quinton Trotter, Johnna Austin, Braeden Lockwood, Zander McWain, Kora Neill, Austin Lockwood and Jace Lockwood. He also leaves behind his cherished dog Spencer and his cat Corkie.

As per John’s wishes there will be no service.

Memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Wounded Warrior Project or the ASPCA.
