John W. Smith

John W. Smith “Jack” of Napanoch, NY, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024. He was 79 years old. Jack was born on November 27, 1944 in Middletown, NY; he was the son of the late Vera (Crance) Smith and Charles Smith Sr.

Jack was a member of the Wawarsing Rod and Gun Club. He had a passion for hunting and enjoyed his time as a motorcycle enthusiast along with indulging in target shooting.

During his working years, Jack contributed his skills as a black topper. He also assisted with the maintenance and burials at Fantinekill Cemetery.

Jack was preceded in death by his beloved life partner Cheryl Orvis.

Left to cherish his memory are his children Tammie Dean, John Smith II, Heather Smith, Jamie Rogers, Angel Smith, and Duane Smith; along with brothers Charles Smith Jr. (Judy) and Edward Smith (Linda). He also leaves behind ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, niece Erin Thompson (Bill), nephew Brian Smith (Deanna), and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Jack's life will be held from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday March 10, 2024 at Tony and Nick's, 162 Canal St. Ellenville.
