Jose M. Colon Sr.

Jose M. Colon Sr., of Ellenville, NY, passed away surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. He was 83 years old. Jose was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on June 3, 1939; he was the son of Jenaro and Josefina (Puig) Colon. Jose was recently predeceased by his loving wife Aida Colon of 57 years.

Jose earned a Bachelor’s degree in Theology from which led him into ministry. He served as the Pastor for El Faro Assembly of God Church in the Bronx for over 20 years. Later moving to Ellenville and served as the Pastor for Hosanna Assembly of God for two years. Most recently Jose was a Bus Driver for the Ellenville School District.

Jose’s faith remained strong, even through his struggles. He believed on giving rather than receiving and would often donate to Operation Smile, St. Jude and to various veteran’s organizations. His family meant everything to him and he enjoyed their visits. He will be deeply missed by his children Zaida M. Valderrama and her husband Carlos R., Jose M. Colon Jr. and his wife Elena, Noraida Ramirez and her husband Wilfredo, Rebecca Nunuvero and her husband Francisco and Samuel Colon and his companion Emily Calabro; his grandchildren, Zaida Johnson, Raquel L. Valderrama, Jesenia A. Colon, Samuel Colon Jr., Ana Saravia, Edgar Saravia, Lyanna Cordero, Samatha Pitkin, Christopher Pitkin Jr., Danielle Pitkin, Alexiana Pitkin, Isabela Ramirez, Yuliana Ramirez, Gabriela Ramirez, Jasmin Nunuvero, Jackie Nunuvero, Ashley Nunuvero, Allyson Nunuvero and Francisco Nunuvero Jr.; his great grandchildren, Noah Johnson, Jeremiah Robinson, Gianna and Isaiah Cordero; his brothers, Robert Colon-Puig and Willian Colon-Puig and his sisters, Edilia Colon and Luzselenia Jagadeesh.

Services will be held privately for his family.
