Joyce Patricia Kaplan

Joyce Patricia Kaplan of Nantucket, Mass. Passed away peacefully on September 17, 2016 surrounded by family and friends.

She was born March 17, 1930 in Ellenville, NY to parents Jack and Ida Kaplan. She was predeceased by brothers Stanley and Norman Kaplan. She is survived by her brother Jerry Kaplan (Clarice) of Fort Montgomery, NY, daughter Sherry Loucks (Nelson) of Nantucket, Mass., son Gregg Thompson (Patti) Westlake Village, CA., daughter Janna Howe (Tom) of Cornwall, NY. Her grandchildren, Christina Loucks Ahumada, Stephanie Loucks, Debra Loucks, and Matthew Thompson. Great grand -children, Mila Ahumada and Jackson Jeffrey Lowe. Nieces, Leone Semeranom, Rhonda Maddock, Mindy Horner, Jaclyn Taub and Jennifer Sherman in addition to several grand- nieces and nephews.

Joyce worked for many years as a caretaker and caregiver at Deerwoods in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY, a position she took great pride in.

Joyce moved to the Landmark House on Nantucket in 2006, where she met many wonderful people that became part of her family. While there she volunteered at the Salt Marsh Senior Center doing what she loved most; helping others. She also volunteered at the Cottage Hospital Thrift Shop. She loved baking and sharing with everyone.

Joyce was a very special person, loved by all around her. She was very proud of both her children and grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at the Congregation Ezrath Israel, 31 Center Street, Ellenville, NY at 10:00 AM on Tuesday September 20, 2016 followed by internment at Ezrath Israel Cemetery in Wawarsing, NY.
