Lawrence C. Lutz

March 29, 1962 — September 23, 2015

Lawrence “Larry” Lutz

Larry was the son of Betteanne and the late William Lutz. He was born March 29, 1962 and resided in Cragsmoor New York.

He was a beloved father, brother, son and the true love of Dana Lutz his wife of 26 years. He passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for, and loved on September 23 2015. Larry was a kind and gentle soul who had a loving and generous heart, and loved his family beyond measure.

Larry was a graduate of Ellenville high school, a past employee of VAW/Hydro Aluminum, and was currently a NYS Correction Officer at the Shawangunk Correctional Facility. He was a diehard New York Yankee and Dallas Cowboy fan, and could always talk sports with anybody. Some of the best times of his life were when he was coaching either baseball or football.

Larry was a father, one of the best at that. He was very proud of his children and he always let them know that. There was not a sporting event, school concert, graduation that he missed. His family was everything to him which is something that everyone knew.

Larry was a very strong-willed man. In June 2013 he was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer and he fought hard all the way to the end. Even while sick Larry continued to live his life the way he would as if nothing was wrong. Whether it was attending a family function, his niece’s softball games, a football game with his son or his daughter’s wedding, he was there and he was always the light of the room.

He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his family; mother Betteanne, wife Dana, son Jason, daughter Lauren, son in law Robert Clouse, his sister Lisa Stedner and her husband Scott, and his three brothers Bill Lutz and his wife Tami, Alan Lutz and his wife Brenda, and Christopher Lutz and his wife MaryBeth. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was a much loved man.

The family will like to express their sincere gratitude to the fellow staff and officers of the Shawangunk Correctional Facility for their support of Larry during his illness.

In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the Cancer Treatment Center of America, Cragsmoor Fire Company, and Walker Valley Ladies Auxiliary.

The family will receive friends and family on Saturday September 26, 2015 at Loucks Funeral Home in Ellenville from 3pm-6pm with a celebration of life following immediately at the Cragsmoor firehouse.
