Obituary

On October 13, 2026, Leo Marino, 83, of Grahamsville, New York, passed away peacefully at Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh, New York, surrounded by love.

Born on March 12, 1943, in New Jersey, Leo was the son of the late Joseph and Laura Marino. He grew up alongside his siblings, Mary, Joe, and Fran.

On July 16, 1977, Leo married the love of his life, Paula Brissing, in Thompson Cove, beginning a marriage built on love, devotion, and family.

Leo proudly served his country in the United States Army. A true patriot, he carried a deep love and respect for his country throughout his life.

He enjoyed a long career as a telecommunications technician with New York Telephone, which later became Verizon.

He was also a dedicated blood donor, quietly giving of himself to help others. A man of Catholic faith, Leo believed in hard work, loyalty, and doing what was right.

He took tremendous pride in his home and found great satisfaction in caring for it. He was also a great lover of music and a passionate sports fan, especially of the New York Giants, New York Rangers, and New York Mets. But above all else, his family was his greatest joy and highest priority.

Leo was the beloved patriarch of his family, a man whose strength, dedication, and unwavering love set an extraordinary example for generations to follow. He was always there when someone needed him—whether to lend a helping hand, offer guidance, or simply be present.

His love was demonstrated not only through words but also through the countless things he did for those he held dear.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Paula Marino; his children, Danny Marino and his wife, Krista; Denyse Betcher and her husband, Andy; Joseph Marino; and Stephanie Mitchell. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Ryan, Justen, Leo A., Kamryn, Leo J., and Madelyn. Leo was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Laura Marino, and his sister, Mary Gooler.

Leo’s legacy is one of love, strength, generosity, and devotion. The example he set as a husband, father, grandfather, and patriarch will continue to guide his family for generations to come. Though his presence will be deeply missed, the love he gave, the lessons he taught, and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of his family forever.

Visitation will take place at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 North Main Street, Ellenville, NY 12428 on October 17, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Burial will take place privately and will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Leo’s honor to the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, 1 Sunrise Lane, Newburgh, NY 12550 or to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan County, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.

On behalf of the staff of Loucks Funeral Home, it is our privilege to serve the Marino family during this difficult time. We extend our deepest condolences to Paula and the entire Marino family, and we hope that Leo’s enduring legacy of love, strength, generosity, and devotion brings comfort to all who knew and loved him.
