Louis (Luis) E. Feliciano

Louis (Luis) E. Feliciano, a longtime resident of Wawarsing, NY, passed away peacefully at home on February 10, 2024 at the age of 82 after a long illness, with his wife and three children at his side.

He was born on May 30, 1941 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico to Leonor Negron and Ramon Feliciano. He grew up on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, where he eventually met and, in 1974, married the love of his life, Bohdanna (Danusia) Hapij. They moved to Staten Island where they started a family. He believed in working for himself and owned and operated a trucking company at Port Newark, NJ.

In 1978 he moved his family to Wawarsing, where they purchased the Rondout Valley Motel and operated it for many years. He was an entrepreneur who liked to dabble in various enterprises, including towing and selling pagers. Eventually the business transitioned back to transportation; he ran a limousine service and then a bus charter company, Rondout Charters, from 1991-2019. All these ventures earned him the affectionate nickname "Rondout Lou".

Over the years, he had many hobbies, from riding, showing and breeding Arabian horses, to skiing, snowmobiling, hunting, flying airplanes, boating, and motorcycling.

He was known for his friendly outgoing nature and sense of humor, and was always considered the life of every party.

He leaves behind a loving legacy, his precious family: his wife Bohdanna of Wawarsing, NY; daughter Sophia Celino with husband Anthony and daughter Vivian of Davidsonville, MD; daughter Vira Berkobein with husband Alex and children Alexander, Nick and Melina of Carver, MA; and son Nicholas with wife Kristen (Cavanagh) and children Nicky and Julia of Ellenville, NY. They will hold his memory in their hearts forever.

He was predeceased by his brother Ramon Feliciano and sister Carmen Sarbinowski, and is survived by many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Always a loving husband, father, and grandfather, he was proud of his children and their accomplishments. He loved playing with his grandchildren, teaching them to ride four-wheelers, shoot, box, and drive a golf cart.

Lou will be missed by all who knew him.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Glen Spey Cemetery, 605 Hollow Rd., Glen Spey, NY 12737.
