Marie Biedinger, a beloved mother, grandmother, and community member, passed away on January 2, 2026, at the Roscoe Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Roscoe, New York. Born on March 13, 1931, in Inwood (Nassau County), New York, Marie was the daughter of Romeo P. LeCuyer and Florence Schmitt.
Following the passing of her mother, Marie was temporarily raised by family in New Bedford, Massachusetts, before being raised by her father in Ozone Park, New York. There, her father remarried Marie's step-mother Helen, with whom he had another child, Lois. After graduating from Jamaica Vocational High School, she married John H. Biedinger on June 28th, 1952.
Throughout her life, Marie was active in her faith and community. She was a devoted member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ozone Park, where she served on the church council, taught Sunday school, and participated in the church bowling team. She worked as an office manager for Dr. Bernard Telsey (orthodontist), in Rego Park, New York. Upon her retirement, she relocated to Blue Sky Mobile Home Park in Wurtsboro, New York, and became a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Ellenville. There, she was ordained as a deacon through the ELCA and served her congregation diligently by serving as a congregational deacon, teaching Sunday school, and serving on the church council.
In her later years, Marie embraced adventure, traveling across the country with her husband in an RV until his illness required them to return home. Following her husband’s passing after 39 years of marriage, she worked as a bookkeeper for a local beverage distributor and later obtained her CDL to become a school bus driver for Rolling V Bus Corporation. Her commitment to service continued as she took on a role as a chaplain at Glen Arden Retirement Community in Goshen, NY. Marie returned to Rolling V and worked there for a total of approximately 15 years. After permanently leaving Rolling V , she spent a short period working for the Liberty Village Clerk's office.
Marie also devoted her time to community outreach for the elderly through a grant-funded program known as Faith In Action, which was funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and administered through Cornell Cooperative Extension of Sullivan County. It involved visiting and offering help to seniors in the community. Marie was an avid reader who also enjoyed playing the organ, bird watching, and spending time with her dogs.
Marie is survived by her loving sons John P. Biedinger (Patricia) of Liberty, NY, and Steven C. Biedinger (Susan) of Jamestown, TN. Additionally, she is survived by her nieces, grandchildren, and a great-grandson who will cherish her memory dearly.
She was predeceased by her father Romeo LeCuyer, mother Florence LeCuyer, step-mother Helen LeCuyer, sister Lois LeCuyer-Knudsen, and her husband of 39 years - John H. Biedinger.
Visitation for Marie will take place on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 1 PM to 4 PM at Loucks Funeral Home, located at 79 North Main Street, Ellenville, NY, 12428, with a funeral service beginning at 3:30 PM, officiated by Pastor John.
