Michael C. Guntlow

Our beloved son, nephew, brother and friend Michael C. Guntlow passed away October 26, 2018 surrounded by his family and loved ones in Roanoke, Virginia. He was 42 years old.

Michael was born June 9th, 1976 and grew up in Napanoch, New York. He graduated from the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY in 1998 and moved to Roanoke, Virginia the same year.

Anywhere Michael was, his contagious love for life infected all those around him. He leaves his friends and loved ones countless memories. He will be remembered for his sharp wit, sincerity, infectious laugh and his flair. His personality gained him respect and love from all who came in contact with him.

The City of Roanoke particularly shines dimmer without Michael’s spirit. A place he loved deeply and it loved him back. Whether you were stopping through on a visit or a long time resident, you could count on being greeted by Michael with a warm smile and a laugh.

As a long standing Board Member and past President of the Square Society, he volunteered his strongest qualities, planning events that brought everyone together - bringing an energetic liveliness to the Roanoke community. He was a member of the Roanoke Elks Lodge # 197.

He joins his mother, Barbara “Bobbi” (Everett) Guntlow in Heaven and is survived by his father Michael A. Guntlow and his stepmother Ann Marie of Port Orange, Fl; his aunt JoAnne Everett of Napanoch, NY; aunt Charlotte (Guntlow) Grossman of Hankins, NY; stepsister Peyton McCarthy of Brooklyn, NY; stepbrother Connor McCarthy of Napanoch, NY; cousins Jason Binder of Sarasota, Fl; Joseph Grossman of Goshen, NY and Rebecca Grossman of Mountaindale, NY.

A celebration of Michael’s life was held in Roanoke Virginia on Monday, October 29th at the Patrick Henry in Roanoke, Va.

Friends may call at Loucks Funeral Home, Inc. 79 N. Main St., Ellenville on Thursday, Nov 1st 5-8 pm. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Friday Nov 2nd at the funeral home followed by burial in Fantinekill Cemetery, Ellenville, NY. The Rev. James Beukelman will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Michael’s memory to The Square Society, 1 Market Square, Roanoke, VA 24011. The Square Society is a non-profit organization that raises money for the cultural arts through social gatherings.
