Ralph William Stedner

Ralph W. Stedner, of Cragsmoor, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2012. He was 85.
He was the son of the late John and Isabelle Martyn Stedner, born on June 22, 1927 in Ellenville, NY.
He proudly served our country in the United States Army Air Corp. during World War II. He was the last surviving founding member of the Cragsmoor Fire Department; and chief for over 25 years. He was involved in many different organizations on the local, county and regional levels. He was a former Town Councilman and Chairman of the Assessment Review Board for the Town of Wawarsing. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be missed deeply.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Christine Terwilliger Stedner; his children: William "Willie" Stedner, Susan Edwards, Gloria Stephens, Doreen Brown and her husband, Harold (Boo); 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his siblings: John Stedner, Elsie Lake, Bertha Smith, and Stanley Stedner. He was predeceased by one son, Paul Allen Stedner, and three siblings: George, Ella, and Joe Stedner.
Visitation will be on Sunday, October 21, at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 North Main Street, Ellenville, NY 12428 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Firematic Service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 8 p.m. The funeral service will be on Monday, October 22, at Loucks Funeral Home at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Walker Valley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ralph's name can be made to the Cragsmoor Fire Department Scholarship Fund, PO Box 155, Cragsmoor, NY 12420.
