Rita May Exner

Rita May Rose Sherman Exner of Ulster Heights passed away on September 1, 2016 at Ellenville Regional Hospital surrounded by her family. She was 79.

        She was the daughter of the late Maurice and Catherine Distle Sherman, born on January 3, 1937 in Ellenville, NY.

        Rita was a LPN at Ellenville Regional Hospital for many years; she devoted many hours and care to help many people throughout her 40 years of nursing. She was an active member of her community; she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Ellenville Hospital, the American Legion, the Ulster Heights Rod and Gun Club and the Ulster Heights Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all that knew and loved her she will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years Donald E. Exner, her daughter Linda Cole, her son Timothy Exner, her grandchildren Matthew Sweetser, Arthur Cole, Joseph Exner, Donald Exner, Zechariah Exner and Stephanie Cole. She was predeceased by one brother Oscar Sherman and two grandchildren Maxwell Allan Exner and Stacey Lynn Cole.

        Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Loucks Funeral Home 79 North Main Street Ellenville, NY 12428 from 10:00am-12:00pm. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 12:00noon with Rev. Mike Sparrow officiating. Interment to follow at Ulster Height Cemetery, Geiger Rd, Ulster Heights, NY.

        Donations in Rita's name can be made to the Ulster Heights Methodist Church Food Pantry, 1264 Ulster Heights Rd, Ellenville, NY 12428.
