Robert Alan Andersen

April 4, 1946 — April 29, 2018

Robert Alan Andersen "Bob, Bobby, Daddy, Pappi" died peacefully in Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kingston, NY on April 29, 2018 at the age of 72.

Robert is survived by his wife Lesley Andersen; children, Natalie and Briana Andersen, and his precious granddaughter, Mia Compton. He also leaves behind his brothers, Martin, William, Michael, Kurt and many nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by two sisters, Joan and Gloria.

After graduation from high school, Robert served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman. After leaving the service Robert received his degree in Mechanical Engineering from a local college and began working at Channel Master, in Ellenville, NY. When Channel Master moved to North Carolina Robert chose to stay in the area he loved and began working for Imperial Schrade Cutlery.

Robert was accomplished as a father, husband, brother and friend. He always loved to make people laugh. His children remember him as a kind, gentle, patient, driven father who encouraged them to pursue their goals and happiness. He was a man who was easy-going, patient, never judgmental and listened to what was said before speaking. He was a generous, witty and dedicated individual who loved Classic Cars, 60's & 70's music, dancing, skiing, running and his home. He was always kind to all animals, big and small. He was usually available if a person or organization needed a helping hand. He tried to be there when needed. He will be missed and always remembered.

The family would like to thank the staff of Golden Hill Nursing Home for the care extended to Bob and the patience and kindness extended to us. We also want to thank our friends who have been so kind and helpful through Bob's illness, especially John Stanger who gave Bob a reason to get up every morning he was home and kept him going for a long time.

A memorial service for Bob will be held at a later date.
