Vaughn Stancage

Vaughn Stancage, of Ellenville, NY, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 15, 2024. He was born on June 6, 1952, in Kerhonkson to his parents Virginia and Frank Stancage.

Vaughn dedicated a significant portion of his life to public service as a Sheriff Deputy for the Ulster County Sheriff's Department. He joined the department in 1972 and faithfully served until his retirement in 1988. Outside of work, Vaughn had been a member of the Ellenville Elks Lodge #1971 and had dedicated himself to the mission and standards the lodge upholds.

A graduate of Rondout Valley High School, Vaughn possessed a strong work ethic that he carried throughout his life. His time at school laid the foundation for both personal growth and professional success.

Vaughn cherished moments spent with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Eileen Stancage, son Thomas Rohloff, daughter Jackie Sawtelle, granddaughters Amanda Rohloff and  Charleigh Rohloff. 

In remembrance of Vaughn's life, a Memorial Gathering will take place on Sunday, January 21, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Loucks Funeral Home in Ellenville providing an opportunity for family members, friends, and well-wishers to pay their respects.

Memorial contributions can be made in Vaughn's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
