Willard Mance

Willard (Bill) Mance of Ellenville died on Friday, December 4, 2015 at Ellenville Regional Hospital.  He was 84.  Bill was born in Ellenville on July 5, 1931,  the middle son of Robert and Kathryn (Fraley) Mance.  He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Bill attended Ellenville School (class of 1948) and was a Veteran of the Korean War. 

Bill's decision to join the Air Force proved to be a turning point in his life, as, while stationed at Chicksands Air Force Base in Bedfordshire, England, he met his wife, Betty, to whom he was married 63 years.  She survives him at home in Ellenville. 

Bill was retired from VAW of America, where he was a corporate accountant. 

Bill was an excellent bowler in his younger days and also loved golf.  When he was no longer able to play, he enjoyed watching golf tournaments.  He was also an avid gardener.  He was a member of the American Legion, the Shawangunk Country Club, and Christ Lutheran Church. 

In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Neil Muller of Ellenville, and two granddaughters, Julie Barone and her husband, JC, and Christina Muller and her fiancé, Paul, all of Connecticut, as well as several nephews, nieces and cousins.  He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Robert and James, and their wives. 

Visitation will be held at Loucks Funeral Home in Ellenville on Tuesday, December 8th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.  The service will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 9th, at 10:30 AM.
