Mr. James Anthony, age 79, was called home to eternal rest January 18, 2021. James is at peace with God now and now rejoicing in his happy heavenly home. We must not mourn as those without hope, for James has gone to get the great reward promised to all who faithfully serve the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
James Anthony was born August 23, 1941 in Arlington, GA to the late Charles Anthony, Sr. and Mae C. Anthony
At an early age, James joined Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church of Arlington, GA. He was educated in the Calhoun County Public School System. After graduating from High School, James relocated to Liberty, NY. He later relocated to Ellenville, NY, where he met and married Doris Curtis. To their union were born two children Gregory and Ingrid Anthony.
James pursued a career in the New York State Law Enforcement System, where he was employed as a correctional officer for 25 years.
He joined the Shiloh Baptist Church, Ellenville NY, where he served faithfully as an usher until his health declined. He was a very active and dedicated member.
James was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Anthony; brother Lovie J Anthony; and sister Sara Hall (Andrew).
He leaves to Cherish his memories, a daughter, Ingrid Anthony (Ellenville, NY); two brothers, Willie C. Anthony (Ruby), McDonough, GA and Charles Anthony Jr. (Frances), McDonough, GA; two sisters, Linda Bryant (John), Miami, FL and Sherry Jean Thomas (Henry), Albany, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
Visiting will be held on Saturday, January 30th from 10:00 am to 12 pm at the Shiloh Baptist Church, 60 Berme Rd., Ellenville, NY. A Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow the visitation. Due to COVID restrictions, there will be limited occupancy inside the church and all visitors must wear a face covering. Burial will take place in Fantinekill Cemetery.
